Dublin is the capital county of the Republic of Ireland. Dublin is situated in the province of Leinster and contains the largest city in the Island of Ireland. The county has a population off well over 1,860,000. Dublin was one of the oldest counties to be structured formally.


Dublin City has many interesting aspects to it; first of all, it is home to the Guinness brewery at St James Gate. The brewery was created by Arthur Guinness in 1759, and continues to be a hugely popular drink in Ireland as well as around the world. It is seen by many tourists as a pre-requisite for visiting the Country, that they have a pint of Guinness, such is its popularity in Ireland.

Dublin City also has the oldest university in Ireland, Trinity College. It is considered one of the best universities in the world, and is renowned for top-level research and faculties.


For sporting fans, the venue that is most impressive is Croke Park. The stadium is a GAA stadium- Gaelic Athletic Association. The Irish sports of Gaelic and Hurling have regular fixtures there and has a near 90,000 capacity.
